HERKIMER

Immunization clinic for children and adults

Herkimer County Public Health at 301 N. Washington St., will be hosting an immunization clinic for children and adults from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3.

The influenza vaccine will be available at this clinic. No appointment is required. Most insurance accepted.

Regular walk-in clinics are from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays.

Bring your insurance cards to determine coverage.

Holiday cookies can be ordered now

The Ava Dorfman Senior & Community Center at 305 E. Locust St. is hosting its annual Holiday Bazaar and Cookie Run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.

The event will feature more than 30 craft vendors for your holiday gift shopping. Homemade cookies will be available for sale at $9 per pound.

Other foods include breads, fudge rolls, soup, chili, sandwiches and fried dough.

The event is a major fundraiser for the center.

Sangertown Square hosts Sensory Santa event

Sangertown Square together with the Kelberman Center welcome children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families to meet with Santa during the annual Sensory Santa event.

Sensory Santa will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1-2, in Sangertown Square’s Center Court.

This event gives children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families an opportunity to see Santa up close and personal in a sensory friendly environment before Sangertown Square opens. The sensory friendly environment found in Center Court, includes quieter surroundings, no standing in line and interaction with a Santa who is experienced in working with children with autism.

Visits with Santa are free. Keepsake Santa photo packages will be available for purchase during the event.

Space and time is limited.

Activities offered at Kirkland library

The Kirkland Town Library, at 55 1/2 College St., is offering the following programs.

• Happy Tails Reading Program will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade who can read independently are invited to take a turn reading to Captain, a trained therapy dog. Register for a 15-minute time slot.

• Family Craft: Decorate a Gingerbread House will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5. Work together to decorate a gingerbread house. Materials provided.

• Mason Jar Gifts for Teens and Tweens will take place at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18. Assemble the ingredients for chocolate chip cookies in a mason jar and make the perfect gift for family or friends. Space is limited.

• Senior Exercise Class will take place from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays, Jan. 14, through April 11. Are you age 65 or older and want to get active? Join the library for a video exercise program. Most exercises are performed in a chair. All equipment will be provided. No experience is needed. Evaluate your results with a final survey. To qualify, participants must not be doing any kind of strength training. (Walking, yoga and Tai Chi are okay.) Space is limited.

UTICA

Breakfast with Santa part of zoo’s Holiday Hoot event

The annual Utica Zoo Holiday Hoot has added a new event to this year’s festivities: Breakfast with Santa.

Join Santa for breakfast Saturday, Dec. 8, in the Utica Zoo Auditorium. Seatings are at 9 and 11 a.m.

Enjoy pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit, juice, milk, and coffee by A Moveable Feast by O’Connor’s and of course Santa Claus. Delight in animal meet and greets, stories, crafts, and holiday photos with Santa.

Tickets are $24 for adults and $12 for children. Tickets must be purchased in advance and there are a limited number of available tickets.
