By Medicine Hat News on November 7, 2020. In the past week about another 250,000 Albertans have been immunized against influenza. According to Alberta Health Services’ second weekly report on the new influenza season, 858,320 Albertans have already been immunized. In 2017 by the end of November the number for the whole province was 958,961 and last year by the middle of November it was 936,675. In the south zone, which includes Medicine Hat, the number is 55,047. Calgary has done 364,072 immunizations, central zone 77,827, Edmonton zone 300,997 and the north zone 60,371. A week ago AHS reported a case of influenza A in the central zone. That case has now been revised as a novel strain and been removed from seasonal reporting. Many pharmacies and doctors offices are providing influenza immunization shots but families with children less than five years old can make an appointment (online, see link below) with AHS. According to Alberta Health Services’ first weekly report on the new flu season, one case of influenza A has been confirmed in the central zone of the province. The province rolled out its flu immunization program this month and nearly 597,110 Albertans have been immunized to date. In 2017, by the end of November, that number was 958,961 and last year by mid-November it was 936,675. This season the number in the South zone is the lowest in the province at 40,700. Calgary has done 246,962 immunizations, Central zone 55,492, Edmonton zone 210,339 and the North zone 43, 614. As the snow fell on Saturday, Saskatchewan residents wound around the parking lot at the Martensville Aquatic Centre to receive flu immunization shots at the Martensville Health and Wellness drive-thru clinic. The outdoor clinic was the brainchild of Dr. Allison Adamus, who normally runs a “shots for tots” clinic designed to make children comfortable while being vaccinated. CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Officials with the Corpus Christi ISD announced that there will be several opportunities for students of all grade levels to receive their immunization shots this month.  CCISD officials said it's an chance for students to avoid being dropped from enrollment due to non-compliance of immunizations. According to the district, students who are not insured or those who have Medicaid or CHIPS will be able to receive their vaccinations at no charge. Students who have insurance will be provided with an order to obtain their immunizations at local pharmacies, school leaders said.  Parents or guardians will need to be present and provide a shot record or a copy of a letter from their campus nurse verifying the immunizations needed. During a homecoming pep rally at William Fremd High School on Sept. 20, 2013, special education teacher T.J. Valacak said he wasn't feeling very well. This day was the latest in a series of days feeling fatigued. When he spoke to his doctor the next day, he received a shock. DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – As students head back to school, public health officials are concerned not only about a possible COVID-19 outbreak but a measles outbreak, or worse, an outbreak of both at the same time. This year, with COVID-19, a measles or a whooping cough outbreak at a school could stretch local health resources to the limit. “It’s not a theoretical concern.
