Local News: Flu vaccine clinics set (9/30/19) - Le Mars Daily Sentinel
PLYMOUTH CO. — Floyd Valley Community Health Service will again be providing flu vaccinations Plymouth County.
The dates, times, and locations are listed below. This year’s standard vaccine covers four strains of influenza.
A high dose vaccine for individuals 65 years of age or older is also available which covers three strains of influenza.
All people 6 months of age and older should get flu vaccine. Vaccination is especially important for people at higher risk of severe influenza and their close contacts, including healthcare personnel and close contacts of children younger than 6 months. People who should not be vaccinated include:
• People who have had a life-threatening reaction to an influenza vaccination in the past.
• People who have ever had Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) within 6 weeks of getting an influenza vaccine previously.
• Influenza vaccine is not approved for use in children less than 6 months of age.
• People who are moderately or severely ill should wait until they recover before getting immunized.
Public immunization clinics will be held:
• 11 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Remsen Senior Center (Beck Park)
• 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Merrill Kissinger Center
• 11 a.m. to noon, Friday, Oct. 11, at Kingsley Community Center
• 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Akron Senior Center
• 2:30-5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Le Mars Convention Center at the Well Aware Community Health Fair
• 1-2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, at Le Mars Senior Center
• 11 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Hinton Community Center
Cost for the influenza vaccine is $25 for the standard vaccine or $58 for the high dose vaccine (age 65+).
Those eligible for Medicare, are asked to bring their Medicare card (Part B) or Medicare Advantage card.
