Ascension Medical Group Genesys welcomes new primary care physicians - Fenton Tri County Times

 Matthew W. Harris, MD, Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Laura Hinman, DO, Board Certified in Family Medicine and Rachal Mittleman, MD, Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics have joined Ascension Medical Group Genesys as new primary care physicians in the Genesee County and Oakland County areas.

 Harris, with over 28 years of experience, is seeing patients at 5900 Waldon Rd., Suite D, Clarkston. He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Harris is accepting new patients 18 and older and can be reached by calling (248) 256-6900.

 Hinman is seeing patients at 6379 W. Silver Lake Rd., in Linden. She earned her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing and completed her residency in Family Medicine at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc. Hinman is accepting new patients of all ages and can be reached by calling (810) 735-7847.

 Mittleman, with over 10 years of experience, is seeing patients at 6011 Porter Rd., Suite D, in Grand Blanc. She earned her medical degree at the University of Toledo and completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee. Mittleman is accepting new patients of all ages and can be reached by calling (810) 424-2401.

Alaska health care giant Providence Health and Services made overtures to the state about taking over management of the troubled Alaska Psychiatric Institute before a lucrative no-bid contract was awarded to Wellpath , a Tennessee-based company that sprouted from the private prison industry, a letter between hospital executives and lawmakers shows. In early February, Wellpath was awarded a roughly $43 million-per-year contract to operate API, the state’s only psychiatric hospital. State officials declared an emergency and circumvented the usual government procurement rules, saying the hospital was unsafe and about to lose federal funding.
