Triamcinolone Acetonide Ointment Dosage and Administration Adults and Children

Apply thin film 2–4 times daily (0.025%) or 2–3 times daily (0.1%, 0.5%).

Do not use superpotent forms on face, groin, or axillae. Exclude viral disease (eg, chickenpox, measles).

Treat infection if present; discontinue if infection persists or worsens. Do not use near eyes, or on diaper dermatitis or pre-existing skin atrophy. Do not use fluorinated steroids longer than 1 week on the face. Avoid abrupt cessation in chronic use. Systemic absorption increased by broken or inflamed skin, prolonged use, application to large surface area, or use of occlusive dressings. Occlude only if necessary; do not occlude higher potency products. Monitor adrenal function in children if a high potency product or occlusion is used, and in adults if more than 50g weekly of a high potency product is used. Discontinue or reduce dose or potency if HPA axis suppression, Cushing's syndrome, hyperglycemia, glucosuria, or irritation occurs. Use lowest effective dose and potency (esp. In children). Use caution if applying to face or body folds. Do not use continuously or for prophylaxis. Foams are flammable. Reevaluate periodically. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers.

Erythromycin Ophthalmic Ointment

For the treatment of superficial ocular infections involving the conjunctiva and/or cornea caused by organisms susceptible to erythromycin.

For prophylaxis of ophthalmia neonatorum due to N. Gonorrhoeae or C. Trachomatis. The effectiveness of erythromycin in the prevention of ophthalmia caused by penicillinase-producing N. Gonorrheae is not established.

For infants born to mothers with clinically apparent gonorrhea, intravenous or intramuscular injections of aqueous crystalline penicillin G should be given; a single dose of 50,000 units for term infants or 20,000 units for infants of low birth weight. Topical prophylaxis alone is inadequate for these infants.


Preparation H Ointment With Applicator

Uses

This medication is used to temporarily relieve burning, pain, and itching caused by hemorrhoids. This product contains ingredients such as cocoa butter, starch, or zinc oxide that form a protective barrier to prevent too much irritating contact with stool. This barrier helps protect inflamed, irritated skin and helps make bowel movements less painful.Do not use this product in children 12 years or younger without talking with the doctor.

How to use Preparation H Suppository

Follow all directions on the product package. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Use this product in the rectum, usually up to 6 times a day, or after each bowel movement, or as directed by your doctor. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Do not use more often or for a longer time than directed.

Before use, clean the area with mild soap and water, rinse well, and pat dry. If the suppository is too soft to insert, place it in cold water or refrigerate it for 30 minutes before removing the wrapper. To use suppositories, unwrap the suppository. Lie on your left side with the right knee bent. Carefully push the suppository (pointed side first) just inside the anus with your finger. Do not push more than an inch or two inside the anus.

Do not use this medication if hemorrhoids are bleeding or the rectal area is raw and irritated.

Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve after 7 days or if bleeding/worsening pain occurs. If you think you may have a serious medical problem, get medical help right away.

Side Effects

This medication usually does not have side effects when used as directed. If you have any unusual effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

If your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

Overdose

This medicine may be harmful if swallowed. If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call a poison control center right away. Notes

To maintain normal bowel function and reduce the risk of hemorrhoids, eat a proper diet high in fiber, drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day, and exercise regularly.

Missed Dose

If you are using this product on a regular schedule and miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Use your next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Storage

Store at room temperature. Different brands of this medication may have different storage needs. Check the product package for instructions on how to store your brand, or ask your pharmacist. Keep all medications away from children and pets.

Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company.
