UF Health Urgent Care Center-Eastside To Host Open House

The UF Health Urgent Care Center-Eastside has scheduled an open house celebration for Saturday, Aug. 3. The event will start at 10 a.M. At the new facility, which is slated to open in August and is located at the intersection of SE 21 Street and Hawthorne Road in Gainesville. The open house celebration will feature a health fair, food, and book and school supply giveaways while supplies last. The 9,000-square-foot clinic, which has state-of-the-art equipment and amenities, held a virtual ground-breaking ceremony on June 21, 2023. The facility will be open 12 hours a day, seven days a week, featuring eight examination rooms, two procedure rooms, X-ray facilities and a community room. On Nov. 30, 2023, people from UF Health, the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners, the Gainesville City Commission and the East Gainesville community gathered for a commemorative signing for the clinic. The new facility, located next to the Gainesville Technology Entrepreneurship Center, is part of a joint city and county initiative to stimulate growth on the east side of Gainesville.  The project will eventually include retail stores and a Gainesville Regional Transit System bus transfer station.

2 New Urgent Care Facilities Coming To Anne Arundel County

Two new UM Urgent Care facilities will open in Anne Arundel County this month, the University of Maryland Medical System said Monday.

The UM Urgent Care location in Pasadena, at 4125 Mountain Road, opened Monday, and a second location in Glen Burnie, at 7954 Crain Hwy., will open July 29. Both will be open seven days a week from 8 a.M. To 8 p.M.

The two locations combined will employ about 30 people and are expected to provide care to more than 20,000 patients annually. The health care providers will see patients for a variety of ailments, including fevers, rashes, allergies and asthma, headaches, eye injuries, sprains and broken bones.

"Our goal is to connect more residents across the county to high-quality health care that is convenient and affordable to help improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve," said Scott Burger, chief medical officer of UM Urgent Care, in a news release.

"We are excited to collaborate with UM Urgent Care to help more patients access primary, urgent and specialty care services so that they can better manage their care closer to home and decrease their chances of needing emergency care," said Kathy McCollum, president and chief executive officer, University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, in the release.

This brings the total number of UM Urgent Care centers to 14 in Maryland, with the Pasadena location being the first in Anne Arundel County.
