JACKSON, MI – A newly renovated walk-in clinic is ready for guests at the Center for Family Health in Jackson.

The health center, 505 N. Jackson St., began construction in January to expand its clinic and pharmacy near downtown Jackson. The clinic officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, Aug. 27 and is ready to serve clients, officials said.

Kikko Ramen & Poke

The restaurant serves an assortment of ramen including wonton ramen, miso ramen and Korean seafood ramen, according to its website.

    The ice cream chain's San Marcos location is owned by Southwest Texas State University Alumni Carlos Garza. Baskin-Robbins sells ice cream in an assortment of flavors. The San Marcos location will have 36 ice cream flavors as opposed to the normal 32 and have late night hours.

    Heart of the Home Gifts and More

    The gift shop is locally owned by Irene Brazeal, and her husband, Mike. Heart of the Home Gifts and More sells crucifixes, rosaries, religious statues, journals, stickers, lace holy cards and doilies and more.

    Bobcat's Paddle Shack

    The mobile paddle board equipment rental services is operated by Texas State University students Zach Lay and Aiden Post. Bobcat's Paddle Shack operates year-round (weather permitting) and is reservation-only.

    Over the Moon Popcorn and Sweet Shop

    The sweet shop—owned by local Michael Applegate—opened its second San Marcos location at the San Marcos Tanger Outlets. Over the Moon Popcorn and Sweet Shop sells gourmet popcorn, as well as new and nostalgic candies. The sweet shop also sells unique soda flavors.

    Gameday Men's Health

    The San Marcos franchise is owned by Alfonso Hernandez and Ismael Rodriguez. Gameday Men's Health offers testosterone replacement and hormone pellet therapy, Priapus shots, vitamin wellness and more. Lead Medical Assistant Nicole Contreras said individuals do not need an appointment to receive injections and they take walk-ins as well.

    Spirit Halloween

    The seasonal store opened in the spot of Famous Footwear. Spirit Halloween sells costumes, makeup, decor and other Halloween-themed items.

    Serene Serenity

    The massage studio's services include Swedish, deep tissue, prenatal and couples massages as well as myofascial release therapy.

    Coming SoonShinko88 Asian Cafe & Boba

    The cafe is owned by Dao Tran—who owns both Phở Tran88 locations in San Marcos and New Braunfels—and Edy Kan. Shinko88 Asian Cafe & Boba will serve Japanese-Asian infused items, offering a limited menu of sushi, poke, ramen and boba.

    The furniture store relocated from 1330 Aquarena Springs Dr., Ste. 109. The store, which opened in March of 2021, is owned by local Hugo Perez Jr. The store offers a wide range of mattresses and furniture from brands like Helix Mattress, Furniture of America, Crown Mark Furniture, Diamond Mattress and more.

    MyCity Locating

    The free apartment locating service relocated from 120 Riverwalk Dr., Unit 300. The business is owned by husband and wife duo Jonathan and Christina Norphy and services San Marcos, Austin, New Braunfels, Buda and Kyle.

    Solidago—Wade Vetiver's Apothecary & Esoterica

    The apothecary shop relocated from 323 W. Hopkins St. Solidago sells an assortment of sage bundles, crystals, herbs, natural soaps and more.

    Green Heron Bookshop

    The bookstore relocated from 323 W. Hopkins St. The book shop, which sells new and used books, San Marcos-based postcards and Texas art, is owned by San Marcos local Wade Vetiver.

    AnyLabTestNow!

    The testing clinic relocated from 1941 I-35. The San Marcos location is owned by Sarah Toney and Sean Toney. AnyLabTestNow! Offers blood work and STD testing, allergy testing and paternity testing. The lab also offers vitamin B-12 injections.

    Fruition Fruit Blendz

    The smoothie truck specializes in from-scratch acai bowls and smoothies using organic acai, frozen fruits and all-natural sweeteners and ingredients such as agave and raw honey. Fruition Fruit Blendz opened at the San Marcos Tanger Outlets on July 13 and then relocated to the Red Bus Food Park near Texas State University.

    In the NewsThe Junction

    The student-housing apartment complex is under new management. BWE, a national commercial and multifamily mortgage banking company purchased the property in June. The new management company—Campus Realty Management—will be making a series of upgrades to the complex.

    Closures

    Thad Ziegler Glass

    After 50 years in San Marcos, the glass supply store, located at 1660 S. I-35 frontage road, has closed its doors. Owner Thad C Ziegler told Community Impact that the opportunity to renew their lease was coming up, but they decided not to renew. Thad Ziegler Glass specialized in residential, commercial and auto glass replacements as well as window glass, plate glass, safety glass, glass table tops, glass shelves and more.

    Sign Arts

    The locally-owned sign-making shop offered banners, business cards, logo creation, lighted signs, vinyl lettering and other promotion products.

  • Steger's Chiffonade

    Owned by Pamela Steger, the business offered catering and weekly food deliveries. Steger said the economy was "too rough" right now, and that they were unable to keep up. She will continue to do catering on the side, but from a different kitchen at this time, Steger said in a message to Community Impact.

    DoubleDaves Pizzaworks

    The pizza restaurant announced its closure in an email to customers, citing various factors including "economic challenges and personal circumstances." DoubleDave's served pizza, wings, sandwiches and salads.
