London City Lionesses Sign Nigerian International Defender Imuran

London City Lionesses sign Nigerian international defender Imuran

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Pride this afternoon.

The 20-year-old left-sided defender joins London City Lionesses following a spell playing her football in the French Arkema Première Ligue with Stade de Reims. Imuran made 30 appearances for Stade de Reims in league competition. Whilst being a strong defensive player, she was also a threat in the opposition box, scoring eight goals.

On the international stage, Imuran is a member of Nigeria's senior national team. She represented The Super Falcons at the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023.

After joining London City Lionesses, Imuran said "I'm very excited to join London City Lionesses and start a new chapter in my career in England. Everyone has been so welcoming since I arrived and I look forward to being able to help the team on the pitch.

"I wanted to come to London City because the coach presented an interesting project and I wanted a different challenge."

Imuran could be involved for London City Lionesses when they face Charlton Athletic at Hayes Lane on Sunday afternoon.

English Women's Championship club London City Lionesses have announced the signing of Super Falcons defender Rofiat Imuran.

Imuran, who recently severed ties with French club Stade Reims put pen to paper on a three-year contract. The 20-year-old helped the Red and Whites secure consecutive top six finishes in her two-year spell at the club. Head coach Jocelyn Prêcheur expressed his delight with the centre-back's arrival. "I have explained in the past that to develop this team we really wanted to focus on two profiles – experienced players who can lead and young players with huge talent and potential," Prêcheur told the club's official website. She already has brilliant experience and playing at the Under-20 World Cup was a wonderful opportunity for her to learn more.
